UnravelSixteen-year-old deaf princess, Marguerite, keeps away from her uncle, Reichard, ever since he broke her hand to keep her from using sign language. He believes her disability makes her unworthy to precede him in line for the throne. Yet it's his role as Bishop-Princep, ""cleansing"" the kingdom through witch-burnings, that keeps Marguerite hiding her gift of embroidery magic, called Skeincraft.
Then one day, Marguerite risks discovery by rescuing a child from the flames. Assisted by Tys, an itinerant acrobat, they flee her uncle's ""justice,"" setting her on a path that will keep her safe. But can she stay hidden, strengthening her Skeincraft skills when Reichard moves to take the throne? Marguerite is an unlikely challenger, relying on her homemade invisibility cloak, a few allies who use sign language, and Tys, the one boy she never should have trusted.
